Descripción: “...El artículo aborda el tema de las arborizaciones urbanas, haciendo énfasis en los múltiples beneficios ambientales, ecológicos y económicos que ellas aportan –a las ciudades, sus habitantes y al planeta– cuando se gestionan estratégicamente, como la reducción de la polución y el ruido, un mejor microclima urbano, la mitigación del calentamiento global, la regulación del caudal de los cuerpos de agua, la fertilización del suelo o la conservación de especies de aves nativas, migratorias y endémicas, entre otros beneficios locales y globales. se analiza, además, el impacto negativo que la gestión incorrecta del arbolado urbano causa en la infraestructura urbana, y los altos costos que conlleva su reparación. se concluye, entre otras cosas, que la mala planificación de las arborizaciones urbanas impacta negativamente los recursos públicos de las ciudades, y en consecuencia, la sustentabilidad de las mismas, y además, incrementa el calentamiento global.Abstract: the article approaches the urban tree planting issue emphasizing on the variety of ecological, environmental and economic welfare it brings to the city, its inhabitants and the whole planet when managed strategically, such as, pollution and noise decrease, urban microclimate improvement, global warming mitigation, water levels regulation, soil fertilization and native bird populations conservation —both from endemic and migratory species—, among other global and local notable benefits. it also analyzes the negative impact that an incorrect tree planting management causes on urban infrastructure, as well as the high expenditure it represents to repair. it concludes, amid the aforementioned, that faulty planning of urban tree planting is harmful to city’s public resources and so to their sustainability, besides actually escalating global warming. ...”

Descripción: “...Medellín cuenta con importantes antecedentes de intervención rural: parques ecológicos campesinos, de bordes urbano-rurales, distritos de manejo integrado, agrario y rural, áreas de reserva y planes especiales, pero aún falta hacer coherentes las medidas e inversiones en función de las oportunidades endógenas con responsabilidad social y ecológica e impacto en la calidad de vida de las comunidades tradicionales de ese espacio rural.Abstract: Planning, territorial ordering and management of the countryside need an approach and consensus around the notion of rural in metropolitan contexts, systemic interdependent to the phenomenon of urbanization, population dynamics, economic model and of occupation of the province, in order to reveal the new functions or strategic roles that this space fulfills in the development, from the culturalist perspective of sustainability, recovery, and improvement of the ecosystemic connectivity, to the social and economic emergency of diversification of the activities productive: farming, forest, mining, agro-industrial and of environmental and ecotouristic services. ...”
